Twas the day of election when all thru the land
The reporters did scurry with mikes in hand
Reporting that, reporting this
a juicy sound bite not to be missed
The ballots were ready and handled with care
In hopes that the voters would soon be there
Cameras aimed at people in line
asking a few what was on their mind
The candidates voted at their assigned places
Walking in proudly with smiling faces
The nation watched as the votes were counted
Who would be President, the tension mounted
Would the winner be Clinton, a woman fair
The first one ever to take the chair
Or would it be Trump, the outsider running
Who’s shocking words had stomachs turning
The voters turned out in numbers large
to vote for the next person to be in charge
We heard them exclaim as they exercised their right
God Bless this Nation and have a Good Night.
One of your funniest and yet poignant posts. I love the way you worked in the “Twas the Night Before Christmas” pentameter. Good job.
I love it!!
Thanks Jan.
